“Opinion: Christie’s ‘compromise’ on Adoptees’ birthright bill unfair”


 

Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey “conditionally vetoed the Adoptees’ Birthright Bill (A1406) in June 2011. The article below explores the issue further.

The ability to access my birth records is not hindered by state law since I was adopted internationally. What impinges me ability is a lack of credible and existing records. I would, however, be incredibly frustrated and angered if I was not allowed, barred by law, to access my records.
